I shop for local, fresh and organic food. I cook all my meals from scratch and stopped buying canned, pre-made meals. It might sound crazy or overwhelming, but it actually is much easier and cost-effective than you can imagine.
I am a full-time mom, I manage my DaZero.com website, and I am also consultant in tourism, food and communications. Now, that doesn’t leave a lot of time in my hands. So when it comes to preparing my everyday family meals, the PANTRY and the FREEZER are my secrets. In my pantry I store the raw material I need throughout the week (pasta, rice, spelt, barely, legumes, flour), while I stock the freezer with food I previously cooked from scratch (minestrone soup, vegetables, meat dishes, sauces, lasagna).
I, therefore, shop and cook in large amounts and freeze my meals. This comes in handy when you have little time in your hands or when you can’t leave the house because the kids are home sick!
